It’s in our nature to hear the voice of God. God is speaking to us in so many different ways, but we often limit our ability to hear Him by speaking over ourselves that it’s difficult or impossible to hear Him. What Solomon asked God for in 1 Kings 3 was an “understanding heart”, which actually means a “hearing heart”. The prayer for wisdom is a prayer to hear the voice of God.
